Leachate Recirculation Problems

Leachate recirculation problems are common. It is not easy to recirculate leachate back into a landfill when there is a lot of leachate, during wet weather seasons. However, with patience, site operators do achieve recirculation very well.
The leachate tends to pond on the surface of the waste very often, unless the pond is attended to regularly by removing the top surface, with a machine shovel, before this becomes “blinded up” with silt and organic matter and often there is very little percolation of leachate into the waste.
